Design is a hard area to quantify “quality”, but all themes on our marketplace will be held to a very high design standard. We’re interested in themes that exemplify the following:
- Simple & Beautiful: Quantifying aesthetics is difficult, but we’re focused on themes with a functional simplicity. For example, themes should have components that visually work together as parts of a greater whole, not one-off components that look like they’re from different styles. Also, we lean towards a modern, simple aesthetic. Think Apple, Stripe, Material Design. Avoid an overload of loud colors, too many typefaces, exotic layouts, etc.
- Purposeful: We are focused on themes that satisfy a specific purpose. For example, a theme that functions as a company dashboard or an agency’s marketing site are purposeful. Themes that aim to be 1000-in-1 with pages for calendars, social feeds, landing pages, admin pages, and a dashboard are too broad for us.
Without tooting our own horn the original Bootstrap themes are pretty good examples.
The Application theme is focused specifically on a robust web app with timelines, profiles, notifications, messages, activity, and new utility classes.
The Dashboard theme was designed to be the perfect starting point for any dashboard or admin site. Charts, graphs, sortable tables, and more than a dozen other components included. You'll notice we stayed away from packing every single feature that could have gone in here.
Finally, the Marketing theme has three very different designs built on the same core code. Our goal was to give some concrete examples in the themes and then make it super customizable with 15+ customer JS and CSS components.
